One move

Standing Woodchop

Strength Power Core Full body

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Mimic chopping wood by rotating the torso and arms from high to low (or low to high). Functional rotational power for the obliques and core.

Option. Start without weight. Progress to a light dumbbell or water bottle held with both hands.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Stand with feet shoulder-width, knees soft, holding a light weight (or just clasping hands) at one shoulder.

  2. 2

Rotate and ‘chop’ diagonally down across the body toward the opposite hip, pivoting the back foot.

  3. 3

Keep the arms mostly straight and the movement driven by the torso, not just the arms.

  4. 4

Control the return to the starting position.

  5. 5

Complete all reps on one side, then switch.

  6. 6

Stay tall and braced — no collapsing.
