One move

Shoulder Rolls

Mobility Upper body

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Roll your shoulders in big, smooth circles — forward then backward — to loosen the upper body and wake up the scapula.

Option. Keep it slow. Smaller circles if the shoulders feel tight. Larger only as they warm.

Stop if. A shoulder pinches or the neck shrugs.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Stand or sit tall with arms relaxed by your sides.

  2. 2

Lift your shoulders up toward your ears, then roll them back and down in a smooth circle.

  3. 3

Complete several circles, then reverse the direction (forward).

  4. 4

Keep the neck soft and breathe steadily.

  5. 5

Feel the shoulder blades sliding and the upper back waking up.

Shoulder Rolls

  • Releases desk tension and gets blood flowing to the shoulders
  • Prepares the upper body for pressing or pulling without strain
  • Feels like an old-school aerobics warm-up move
