One move

Seated Hamstring Stretch

Mobility Stretch Lower body

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Sit on the floor with one leg extended, the other bent. Hinge gently from the hips toward the straight leg until you feel a comfortable stretch along the back of the thigh.

Option. Bend the extended knee slightly if the stretch is intense. Keep the spine long rather than rounding hard. Use a strap or towel around the foot if reaching is difficult.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Sit tall on the floor with one leg extended straight in front of you.

  2. 2

Bend the other knee and place the sole of that foot against the inner thigh of the extended leg (or keep both legs extended if preferred).

  3. 3

Hinge at the hips, keeping the back long, and reach toward the extended foot.

  4. 4

Stop when you feel a mild-to-moderate stretch in the hamstring. Breathe and hold.

  5. 5

    Switch sides.
