One move

Lying Windshield Wipers

Strength Stability Core

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Lie on your back with legs up and slowly lower them side to side like windshield wipers. Excellent rotational oblique and core control work.

Option. Bend the knees to 90 degrees to make it easier. Straight legs are the advanced version. Reduce the range if needed.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Lie on your back with arms out to the sides for stability, legs lifted toward the ceiling (knees bent for easier version).

  2. 2

Keep the shoulders and upper back pressed into the floor.

  3. 3

Slowly lower both legs to one side as far as you can while keeping the opposite shoulder down.

  4. 4

Use the obliques to pull the legs back to center, then lower to the other side.

  5. 5

    Move deliberately — no momentum.

  6. 6

Breathe out as you return to center.

Lying Windshield Wipers

  • Trains rotational strength and control through a big range
  • Scales perfectly from bent-knee beginner to straight-leg advanced
  • Leaves the obliques feeling worked in the best way
