One move

High Knees

Cardio Conditioning Full body

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Run in place while driving the knees up toward the chest. Classic conditioning move that also sharpens coordination.

Option. Slow it down to a march for lower intensity. Pump the arms to increase the challenge.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Stand tall and begin jogging in place.

  2. 2

Drive one knee up toward hip height (or higher) while the opposite arm swings forward.

  3. 3

Quickly switch legs, keeping a light, quick rhythm.

  4. 4

Stay on the balls of the feet and keep the core lightly braced.

  5. 5

Breathe steadily — do not hold your breath.

  6. 6

Reduce height or speed if form or breathing suffers.

High Knees

  • Improves running mechanics and hip-flexor endurance
