One move

Band Romanian Deadlift

Strength Lower body

How to read ahead. Do to go one move at a time.

Stand on the band. Soft knees. Hinge at the hips, then stand by squeezing the glutes. The back stays long. This is a hinge, not a squat.

Option. Shorten the range until the back stays flat. No band: Bodyweight Good Morning, hands at the chest. Iron pumper: a thicker band, a four-count lower, or a pause just above the stretch.

Show the steps
  1. 1

Stand on the middle of the band. Hold the handles at the hips or just outside the thighs.

  2. 2

Soft knees. Push the hips back. The band stretches as the torso leans. Keep the back long and the chest proud.

  3. 3

Stop when you feel the hamstrings, not when the back rounds.

  4. 4

Stand by squeezing the glutes. Finish tall. Do not yank with the low back.

  5. 5

Lower with control. Breathe in on the way down, out as you stand.

  6. 6

Cut the range or drop to a lighter band if the back rounds or the knees travel forward like a squat.

Band Romanian Deadlift

  • Trains the hinge without a bar or bells
  • Loads the hamstrings and glutes as the band stretches
  • Stays joint-friendly when the range stays short and the back stays long
